Winter Wonderland at Westport House – Magical Christmas Experience

Visit Westport House’s Winter Wonderland where you will be met by Santa, Mrs Claus and their Elves!  You will experience a blizzard of Christmas spirit as you step into the stunning 18th century Westport House, which will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland from Saturday November 24th until Christmas Eve in 2012.

 

As it tis the season to be jolly you will warm up with a complimentary glass of mulled wine or a juice for the little ones.  Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, you will treated to activities galore!  You can visit Santa and his elves at Santa’s Grotto in the beautiful Drawing Room where you will receive a special Christmas gift and join Mrs Claus for magical storytelling and a sing-song by the fireside in the Library.  The resident snow(wo)man will be on hand to paint their faces with Christmas cheer and you can also join in the Little Drummer Boy workshop.  Be sure to visit the Elves Workshop where you may paint your own Christmas decoration which you can hang proudly on their own tree at home or give to someone special as a gift.  Once you’re finished enjoying your visit in the House, please take a ride on the Polar Express* through the grounds and watch out for surprises around each corner while you stay warm with a complimentary blanket.

Photography is encouraged in the grotto so please plan to bring along your own camera if you would like a photo with Santa as Westport House will not be distributing photos.  However, the unauthorised use of photographic or video equipment to record children other than your own is strictly prohibited.

When?

 

Dates for 2012 are being finalised. The website will be updated as soon as they are confirmed but will certainly include every weekend from November 24th through Christmas Eve as well as possibly more mid-week days. 

 

 

Bookings will be made every half hour.  Your visit to Santa’s Grotto will last 20-25 minutes from start to finish although, there’s much more to enjoy in the house.  Please plan on spending a couple of hours with us to enjoy it all.

Booking for Winter Wonderland and visits with Santa are highly recommended. We encourage you to book your tickets using our online booking engine.  

 

 If you’d rather book in person, you may drop in to our Information Office in the Farmyard.

 

€10 for infants (children under 2 yrs - please note that a gift  is included)

€20 for children

€10 for adults

School or Group Visits

Booking information & important details for your visit

 

Before making a purchase, please carefully review your time, date and individual selections.  Once purchased, tickets CANNOT be exchanged, refunded or returned. 

 

An infant is a child under 2 years.  A child is aged 2 - 15 years inclusive. An adult is aged 16 and over.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult aged 18 years or older.  

 

Bring your printed ticket with you on the day of your visit as admittance will not be permitted without it.  This is the email confirmation you receive from us upon booking.  Unfortunately, tickets cannot be posted out. 

 

When you arrive at Westport House, please drive directly to the house itself and present your ticket at the reception. 

 

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour time to allow registration and getting to Santa’s Grotto.  Every effort will be made to admit latecomers, but admission to Santa’s Grotto will not be possible under any circumstances after your ticketed start time.  As you can understand, the tours must leave on time to accomodate all families and maintain the day’s schedule. Be sure to plan appropriately for the weather and your journey time. And again, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour time.  

 

There are no tickets for visits to the House only during Winter Wonderland as the entire experience and all activities are included. 

 

Important message re: buggies:  Please note that we cannot allow buggies in Westport House due to the beautiful parquet floors which are genuinely antiques in their own right.  We realise this is not ideal and so, we will have a limited number of baby carriers (like a baby bjorn) on hand for you to borrow for your visit. We highly recommend that you bring your own in case they are all in use.

Annual Pirate Pass Holders

 

Annual Pirate Pass holders gain a 10% discount on a booking as a thank you for membership.  Please note that you will need your Annual Pirate Pass card number to make the booking online for the number of people detailed on your pass i.e. 1 adult and 2 children or 2 adults and 4 children.  You may only use this code once so be sure to check all details before making a purchase.  The name on your Annual Pirate Pass must match the name of the person booking.  As with any visit, you will be required to present your Annual Pirate Pass along with photo ID on the day of your visit.  Any abuse of this discount will result in cancellation of bookings.
