Treasure Your Family Time

Westport House is the west coast of Ireland’s number one destination for family fun, sky-high action and some of the nation’s most awe-inspiring heritage displays.

Set amongst lush gardens, rich mature woodlands and broad promenades, Westport House is one of the jewels in the crown of Ireland’s historical family homes. Surrounded by the majestic expanse of Clew Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and Ireland’s holy mountain Croagh Patrick, the origins of Westport House date to the 1500’s when the legendary Pirate Queen of Connacht Grace O’Malley reigned here in one of her many castles. Today visitors can tour 300 years of Irish heritage in the ancestral home of the Browne family (the direct descendants of Grace O’Malley who still own and run it today) and enjoy a myriad of attractions throughout the grounds.

Go wild at the Pirate Adventure Park with swashbuckling good fun on rides, slides, bouncy castles and giant swan pedaloe boats designed especially for children under 12, or tackle the nail-biting high ropes, zip and zorbing in our Adventure Activity Centre if you dare! Feel the wind in your hair and cycle the new greenway connecting the Great Western Greenway to Westport Quay or enjoy a guided tour from the comfort of our fully-enclosed Westport Train Tour through Westport House Estate, Westport Quay and the historic town of Westport itself. And when the day is done, rest a while in our family focused caravan and camping haven, and feast on great family-friendly suppers in the Old Kitchen Cafe.

With so much to do, there is truly something for everyone at Westport House.
