Westport is now one of the top destinations for Irish travelers. And with our ideal positioning on the Wild Atlantic Way, we are seeing a surge in international visitors to Westport. We would love to welcome YOU and yours.
The Browne family and team at Westport House are honoured to have welcomed 5 million visitors over the past 55 years. Since the family first opened the House to the public in 1960 when 2,600 visitors came through our front door, visitor numbers have steadily grown to 162,000 annually. We pride ourselves on a warm West of Ireland welcome, a stunning setting, great hospitality, fascinating tours and stories along with delectable service and refreshments.
What Westport House Offers to Your Group
Check out the video below for a beautiful overview of what we can offer.
A guided tour of spectacular Westport House
Your expert and passionate guide will take you on a 30 minute journey around the main floor and basement of Westport House in which you’ll learn all about the house, the fascinating story of the family who originally built it and are – amazingly – still here as well as life below stairs! Suggest allowing 60-90 mins to enjoy all 30 rooms, 6 permanent exhibitions and (weather permitting) a stroll in the natural parkland and woodland grounds.
Westport Train Tour
the all-weather educational and entertaining guided tour of Westport town, Westport harbour and Westport House estate visiting 46 sights along the way. Allow 60 minutes. Or consider combining a visit to Westport House with the Westport Train Tour – a lovely way to wile away 2 hours!
Enjoy an “After Hours” Experience
We shall pick you up from your hotel or the town centre where you’ll board the adorable Westport Train Tour to be transported to the stunning Westport House for an exclusive treat of “Canapes & Bubbly” followed by a professional photo shoot if you choose. Bear in mind that that the house usually closes to the public at 6pm so this a truly decadent event – and one not to be missed! Suggest allowing 2.5-3 hours. It’s an ideal alternative to visiting the wonderful Irish pub or consider this as an early-evening activity pre-dinner.
Lord it Up with Us
You will be treated to a 30 minute guided tour of the stunning house followed by a sumptuous afternoon tea served in the Old Kitchen Cafe. This is a lovely lunch option for groups visiting Westport or a classy afternoon out for the ladies – Suggest allowing 2.5-3 hours.
Sheep Herding Displays
In partnership with Catherine and Jim from the award-winning Glenkeen Farm, groups visiting Westport House can opt to add on a 45 minute sheep herding display to their guided tour of Westport House.
Let us Create Something Bespoke for you!
We can happily customize a visit for you – in the past, we have thoroughly enjoyed arranging Irish dancing displays, live music, choir recitals, whiskey tasting, photo shoots and more.
