The ultimate in old world heritage, Westport House puts the WOW into your wedding or special event. It is the most beautiful historic house in Ireland providing a stunning location for the dream party.
Situated in a superbly Parkland setting with lake, waterfalls, terraces and beautiful gardens all overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Clew Bay and Clare Island, it provides a backdrop like nowhere else in the world for you to celebrate your special occasion.
Westport House has an exclusive one-event-a-day policy which means that you can relax in the comfort of knowing that the house is exclusively yours – all three floors of it! Given the secluded setting, it is unlikely that you’ll see another soul aside from your guests and the accommodating staff.
The House which is still privately owned by the Browne Family who built it in 1730 is still very much as it was. It allows you to go back in time where you will find yourselves surrounded by original furniture, magnificent paintings, open fireplaces, parquet floors and breathtaking architecture in every room- a living documentation of 300 years of Irish Heritage.
You will receive a warm Westport welcome from all of the team in Westport House and they will work with you to plan all aspects of your day to ensure that it runs seamlessly.
A welcome drink may be served in the stunning Entrance Hall with guests mingling on the front steps or in the library or touring the house at their leisure. For the meal, your guests will move to the Drawing Room (seating 60), a very intimate room where there is a beautiful 19th century hand painted ceiling.
To accommodate up to 120 guests, your party may also be seated in the Long Gallery. Guests will be catered for using our preferred caterers who have proven themselves time and again to deliver delicious fare to guests of Westport House. After dining, the Long Gallery may be cleared for entertainment in the evening. Or if you would rather try something new, we are happy to discuss requirements to ensure we deliver on a fabulous event.
For larger events, there are also a couple of marquee sites adjacent to the House.
