Check Out Our List of 5 Festive Things to Do in Mayo this December.

We would argue that Mayo is magic at the best of times. But this December, we are really pulling out all of the festive stops. You are invited to visit us in Westport and Castlebar this December for a weekend full of holly jolly magic and yuletide cheer.

1. Pack up the kids and head to Westport House’s Winter Wonderland to meet Santa. With story-telling, face painting, crafting, treats, a visit with dear old Santa Claus and the Santa Express Train across the Estate, Winter Wonderland at Westport House is an authentic, old fashioned Christmas experience for all the family to share. Open November 24th to December 23rd.
2. Stay exactly where you are on the Westport House Estate and head over to the farmyard to a 5pm or 7:30pm Classic Drive In Movie showing. Take your pick of family movies such as Elf, Home Alone, E.T., Frozen or Willie Wonka. Grab your gal pals for Grease and Dirty Dancing. Or round up the boys for Jaws or Top Gun. And its action from November 30th to December 30th.
3. Get your skates on and go ice-skating on Connaught’s largest ice rink this Christmas, in Castlebar. The ice rink will be located in the beautiful setting of The Mall and will run from November 30th to January 6th.
4. Shop til you drop in Castlebar – a shopper’s heaven, with dozens of great, local family-run shops as well as the big high street names – such as Argos, TK Maxx, Homestore & More, Next, Shaw’s, Harvey Norman and more – all within close proximity of each other.
5. Stay over in one of our preferred four star hotels – make a weekend of it and book in to fabulous Hotel Westport on the Westport House Estate or in Castlebar’s beautiful Breaffy House Resort.  Or what the heck, why not book a night in each?

We have two fantastic family holidays up for grabs this December. The prize includes a two night bed & breakfast stay for a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) in either Breaffy House Resort or Hotel Westport along with a family of four ticket to each of Winter Wonderland, a Drive in Movie and Mayo on Ice.  Each prize is valued at over €350 each.
