Westport Festival of Chamber Music
September 8, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Westport Festival of Chamber Music returns for its 5th consecutive year in 2017. Concerts will be presented throughout the weekend in Westport House, Westport Town Hall and Holy Trinity Church – all wonderful settings for chamber music.
“An Embarrassment of Riches. That could be the title for this, our 5th festival in stunning Westport. We are very happy to welcome a string quartet for the first time since our inaugural festival. And joining them are 8 world-class musicians, a few of whom you have met before. 12 musicians based in Westport for almost a week. Because of this boost in artists, we added a Sunday morning concert, so, from our ‘humble’ beginnings in 2013, we now have six concerts over three days! The riches also extend to our three venues. Not many festivals can boast to have a Great Irish House, an acoustically designed town theatre, and the elegant surroundings of the Holy Trinity Church. Such variety of stage and the many wonderful artists will bring about some memorable music making, of that there is no doubt!”
We are looking forward to hosting the opening recital for the festival on Friday the 8th of September 2017. Guests will be treated to three stunning performances throughout the evening;
Beethoven: Piano Trio in D major Op.70 No.1 ‘Ghost’
Leon McCawley, Jack Liebeck, Guy Johnston
Penderecki: Cadenza for solo viola
Jennifer Stumm
Schubert: String Quintet in C major D. 956
Navarra Quartet, Guy Johnston
Doors open at 8pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.
