Winter Wonderland at Westport House is a magical family experience brimming with Christmas cheer that will leave the kids starry-eyed and the whole family believing in fairy-tales!
Escape the wintry weather outside for the warmth of our cosy open fires. Parents can enjoy a delicious glass of mulled wine and kids a tasty juice while soaking up the twinkling lights, lush green garlands and tinsel trimmings spilling festively from every corner of Westport House.
Kids will adore a special visit to Santa in his grotto, story-time by the fireside with Mrs Claus and festive face-painting to really get them in the Christmas spirit.
They will be captivated by the elves hard at work in the Elves Workshop and can even make their own yuletide log and decorate their own Ginger Bread Man. And don’t forget the real spirit of Christmas with a visit to the Christmas Wish Tree (and we’ll donate €1 per family to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice for each family’s wish).
Hop on board the Westport House Express miniature railway around the lakeside to enjoy magnificent winter time views of the House or join the Westport Train Tour for a carol-singing trip into Westport town (*additional price of €3 per person).
With so much to do at our Winter Wonderland, you’ll cherish the special memories your family will share of this fun-filled and blissful Christmas-time marvel.

“When we returned home, I asked my children what they thought of the experience and they said they would give it ten out of ten. This meant a lot as they range in age from 3 to 11 years. We really enjoyed it. I found the staff very helpful.I was unsure if my eleven year old would enjoy but even she was very impressed. I have recommended it to family and friends and I would have no hesitation in going again.”
Experience the magic of Christmas at our fairy-tale winter wonderland, open every weekend at Westport House from November 26th until Christmas Eve.
We recommend that most families allow up to 4 hours to do everything but it will depend on the children’s ages. The only time we will hold you to is the time you spend in the grotto which will last circa 25 minutes.
We are sorry to appear “shouty” and use ALL CAPS but this one is important. Due to the popularity and limited number of children that Santa can see in any one day, pre-booking online is essential to avoid disappointment. Certain days – and time of day – are very popular and will book out. Bookings close at 3pm on the day before your visit to allow Santa enough time to gather all the information he needs. If you haven’t pre-booked your visit by then, you are very welcome to drop in and we’ll be delighted to welcome you if Santa can see you. We recommend you please call us on +353(0)98 27766 before you travel to check availability in the grotto to avoid any disappointment for the little ones! Our booking engine is open and taking bookings for Winter Wonderland now – simply click here to get started!
Before you book, please visit our “important booking information page” to help you plan your visit. You will visit Santa as part of a group and your visit to Santa’s Grotto will last 20-25 minutes. But be sure to allow enough time to enjoy all the other festive activities on offer! We recommend families allow 2-4 hours to take advantage of the workshops, activities and fun that is our Winter Wonderland. It’s important to highlight at this point that we absolutely cannot reschedule visits or issue refunds for missed or cancelled visits so please check and double-check your preferred date and time before you book. You’ll find more information on the important booking information page.
