National Tell Tale Day at Westport House on August 20th
Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland (Thursday, August 11, 2011) As part of Heritage Week 2011 running from August 20 – 28, Westport House is providing a FREE “Tale of Grainne Uaile” Session in the farmyard and ticket office area.
We have introduced a new Grainne Uaile Experience in the house this year – including a tour and a new dungeon experience – and for Tell Tale Day, we are taking the tour out of the house to provide it FREE to visitors. Ideally suited to children, it will explain the connection between the legendary pirate queen Grainne Uaile and Westport House as well as tell tales of her life on the high seas.
The storytelling will be delivered by a costume-d Grainne Uaile and will run for 30 minutes on the hour between 12pm and 5pm. The storytelling will be held in a tented area outdoors.
