Shortlisted for Tourism Innovation Award

Santa has come early!

Today, Westport House found out that we have been shortlisted in the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) Awards for Best Leisure Tourism Innovation.

The ITIC awards give recognition to and promote people, companies and organisations – overseas and at home – that have made significant contributions to developing, marketing, selling and delivering improved visitor experiences in Ireland and to increasing the number of visitors from overseas.

In our category of County-based Best Leisure Tourism Innovation, we are in great company as follows:

  • Commissioners of Irish Lights – Ireland
  • Fortress Spike Island – Cork
  • Lough Key Forest & Activity Park – Roscommon
  • Powerscourt Estate – Wicklow
  • Westport House – Mayo

As a West of Ireland-based visitor attraction, we are especially delighted to see a great mix of rural businesses represented as well many of our good friends in the Irish visitor experiences and events industry.  There are too many to name and mention here on our blog, but I encourage you to check out the ITIC website for a full list of finalists.  You will soon see that the best and the brightest of Irish tourism is represented here – and we would like to extend our congratulations to all!

The judging panel is made up of highly qualified professionals from diverse industries as well as from tourism.  It includes Maurice Pratt of Uniphar Plc, Philip Browne of the IRFU, Noirin Hegarty of Lonely Planet, Simon McKeever of the Irish Exporters Association and Marian O’Gorman of The Kilkenny Group.

The winners will be announced at the Gala Event and Dinner on Friday, February 3rd 2017 at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin. This promises to be one of the great tourism networking events of the year and will be a celebration of excellence within our Industry.

We hope to see you there!
