Westport Festival of Chamber Music
September 9, 2016

The Westport Festival of Chamber Music 2015 will return for the fourth time this year. Concerts will be presented throughout the weekend in Westport House, Westport Town Hall and Holy Trinity Church, all wonderful settings for chamber music.
At beautiful Westport House, the Long Gallery will provide a most appropriate setting for the first concert as well as an opportunity to look around Westport House. Leonard and Tinney will open the Festival in Westport House performing a highly gripping work by Achill-born Raymond Deane and will be joined by Liana Gourdjia (violin), Joachim Roewer (viola), Marc Coppey (cello), Jose Franch Ballester (clarinet), Martin Owen (horn) and Katya Apekisheva (piano). There will be a wine bar open before and after the concert.
The running order is as follows:
- Raymond Deane: Parthenia Violata for violin and piano, Catherine Leonard, Hugh Tinney.
- Poulenc: Élégie for horn and piano, Martin Owen, Hugh Tinney.
- Brahms: Clarinet Sonata in F minor, Op. 121 No.1, Jose Franch Ballester, Hugh Tinney.
- Interval
- Dvorák: Piano Quartet in E flat, Liana Gourdjia, Joachim Roewer, Marc Coppey, Katya Apekisheva
“Leonard and Tinney offered the rare pleasure of playing four sonatas (Op 12 No 2 in A, Op, 12 No 3 in E flat, Op 23 in A minor, and Op 24 in F, the Spring Sonata) with perfect poise and balance. Nothing understated, nothing forced, everything spot on. ” Michael Dervan, Irish Times 14 May 2014
